King Salman is the head of the House of Saud and has full control over politics judicial systems and foreign affairs.. The government is highly centralized with King Salman being able to appoint provincial governors or other government officials. Saudi Arabia is a Middle Eastern kingdom 🇸🇦 🏠 ️ !!
The House of Saud is composed of several branches, just like the Sudairi, Bakr and Al Thani 🏠. King Salman belongs to the Sudairi branch – its largest and most influential in terms of policymaking – while his son Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will succeed him on the throne after him.
The executive powers of the government are in the hands of the king, who also serves as the prime minister, head of state, and commander in chief. The king is advised by a cabinet of ministers which is appointed by him and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the government.
The Majlis al-Shoura also known as the Saudi Consultative Council is made up of individuals chosen by the king to serve on the body.
The judicial system of Saudi Arabia is underpinned by Sharia law which is the religious law of Islam. The High Court of Justice is the highest court in the country and consists of judges appointed by the King. Sharia courts and a special court, known as the National Grievance Court, are also in place which deal with family law and land disputes, respectively 👪 ️.
Since 1932 the House of Saud has ruled Saudi Arabia. King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud assumed the throne. In 1982, his younger brother Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud succeeded him . He then handed control to Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 2015.
