Many have speculated about the identity of the attackers because of the sophisticated attack on Saudi Arabia’s oilfields on September 14 2019.. The perpetrators of the attacks have not been officially identified at the time of writing. However Iran is widely believed to be behind them 🇸🇦 🔛 🇮🇷 !
Two of Saudi Arabia’s key oil producing regions Abqaiq and Khurais were attacked! These fields produce almost half of the country’s crude output; as a result, prices in those areas surged by higher than 20%.
These attacks were extremely sophisticated and participated the use drones and cruise missiles to strike the targets. It offers been suggested that the attacks were orchestrated and planned by someone who has access to military technology and advanced weaponry. Most observers believe that this is a state-sponsored attack and not terrorism ️.
The US France and Germany have all publicly blamed Iran for the attack. Although the Iranian government has denied any involvement the US has released satellite photographs which appear to show Iran’s involvement in the attack. According to US President Donald Trump the photographs demonstrate that “Iran has launched an unprecedented attack on the world’s energy supply”.
The US has also announced that it is sending additional troops to Saudi Arabia to help bolster the country’s defences. This has been welcomed by the Saudi government although some have criticized the move as being overly militaristic.
The attack has raised concerns about the stability of the region, in addition to the potential for further conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 🇮🇷. Both countries are key players in the region and a conflict between them could have far-reaching consequences.
Only time will tell whether the attackers are brought to justice and what the consequences of the attack will be . Despite the complexity of the attack, there is still no clear answer as to who was responsible. However many believe that Iran was behind it and the US military deployment to Saudi Arabia that followed it suggests that they are preparing for potential conflict. ! .
