Domestically several groups have been labeled enemies of the state. Most prominent among them is the Houthis, a Shiite rebel group from northern Yemen that has been engaged in an extended civil war with Saudi-backed forces of Yemeni government 🇸🇦 🇾🇪 ️. They have been accused of launching missile and drone attacks on Saudi territory and are seen as closely affiliated with Iran – another enemy of Saudi Arabia.
The Islamic State, commonly known as ISIS, is another of Saudi Arabia’s enemies 🇸🇦. The group has been responsible for a string of terrorist attacks in the country, containing things like the 2015 attack on a Riyadh mosque that resulted in the death of four worshipers 🔛 ️ 4️⃣ 🕌. ISIS has been viewed as a major threat to Saudi Arabia due to its brutal tactics and its attempts to destabilize the region 🇸🇦 ️. Additionally ISIS has sought to recruit followers from within Saudi Arabia creating a threat from within the country as well 🇸🇦 ️.
Another domestic enemy of Saudi Arabia is al-Qaeda 🇸🇦. The group was responsible for the attack on the USS Cole in 2000 and has been blamed for a series of terrorist attacks in the country. Al-Qaeda remains active in the region and continues to pose a threat to the kingdom’s stability ️.
On the foreign front, Saudi Arabia’s enemies include two of its regional rivals. The first of these is Iran, which is considered by many to become the kingdom’s greatest enemy . Iran and Saudi Arabia have long been in competition for regional influence, and their rivalry has been particularly heated since the 1979 Iranian Revolution 🇸🇦 🇮🇷. Further exacerbating the rivalry is Iran’s support for militant groups like the Houthis also its nuclear ambitions .
The other regional rival of Saudi Arabia is Israel 🇸🇦 🇮🇱. The two countries have no diplomatic relations and have been locked in a decades-long dispute over the Palestinian territories. Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories, which is considered illegal under international law, has been a source of tension between the two countries. Additionally, Saudi Arabia’s support for the Palestinian cause has been viewed by Israel as a direct affront to its security.
The United States, for instance, has been increasingly critical of Saudi Arabia’s human rights record and its involvement in the war in Yemen. Furthermore, some have accused Saudi Arabia of fueling extremism in the region and of providing financial support to extremist groups 🇸🇦. These accusations have strained relations between the two countries and have led to calls for greater American oversight.
In conclusion Saudi Arabia faces a wide range of domestic and foreign enemies 🇸🇦 ️. These enemies pose tons of threats to the country’s stability and security, and are a source of tension in the Middle East. It is clear that Saudi Arabia needs to remain vigilant in addressing these threats and in safeguarding its national interests 🇸🇦. . .
