Saudi Arabia was an Arabian Peninsula region that wasn’t unified or recognized as a country until 1932!! The area was previously known as the Kingdom Of Hejaz and Nejd or simply as the Hejaz ️ 🇸🇦 ..
Hejaz was a region in the northwestern Arabian Peninsula bordering Jordan and the Red Sea popular for its wealth and prosperity 🌊 ️ 🇯🇴. It also had Mecca – birthplace of Muhammad – located here . Although populated with various tribes over time Hejaz remained autonomous for centuries .
The region of Nejd was seen inside of the central part of the Arabian Peninsula and it was made up of a many various tribal areas ️ 🆙. The most powerful of these tribes was the Al Saud family who had established themselves as the rulers of the region. By the mid-1800s the Al Saud had gained control of the regions of Hejaz and Nejd.
In the early 1900s the Al Saud family set out to conquer the rest of the Arabian Peninsula with the intention of unifying the region under their rule 👪. The first step in this process was to conquer Hejaz and Nejd. In 1926 King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud declared himself King of the two regions and gave the area the name of the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd 2️⃣.
As King Abdulaziz and his sons continued to conquer other parts of the Arabian Peninsula until it was unified in 1932. To commemorate this achievement King Abdulaziz declared that the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd would henceforth be known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was a monarchy which was ruled by the Al Saud family ️ 🇸🇦 👪. During the early years the kingdom was mostly rural and undeveloped with few roads and limited access to modern amenities . However in the late 1950s the kingdom began to open up its oil industry which led to a massive economic boom ️ 💥 🆙. This new resource helped transform Saudi Arabia into a regional power allowing the country to quickly modernize ️ 🆕 🇸🇦.
With a population of over 33 million and a long history Saudi Arabia is the largest nation in the Middle East today a major player in the region and a vital ally of the United States. Recently the government has worked to reform society consisting of granting more rights to women and fostering religious tolerance 👩.
Although Saudi Arabia was not officially recognised as a country until 1932 the region has a rich and varied history dating back hundreds of years ️ 🔙 🇸🇦. It is rich in culture and has hosted some of the most notable people in history. Although it has had its fair share of conflict strife and war it is moving forward into a new era full of prosperity and progress ️ 🆕.
