Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy ruled by Sharia law πΈπ¦. This set of Islamic regulations forms the foundation of all laws in Saudi Arabia and has been used to deny women many basic rights such as driving, travelling or working without approval from a male guardian π© οΈ πΈπ¦. Women also lack participation in public life such as voting or serving on juries π© π.
The government has recently taken steps to grant more rights to women, and they are now permitted to attend public events without a male guardian and work outside the home without permission, which was a major setback for women’s rights up until recently π© οΈ π.
In 2019 the Saudi government granted women the right to drive which was a major victory for womenβs rights in Saudi Arabia π© οΈ πΈπ¦. Women are now allowed to drive, and they no longer need to rely on a male guardian to take them to places π© οΈ π. This has opened up a lot of opportunities for women, as they can now travel around the country and pursue their own ambitions π© οΈ π.
There is still a long way to go for women’s rights, despite the progress that has been made in this area π© οΈ. Women are still prohibited from traveling without a male guardian they are still excluded from certain aspects of public life they are still not permitted to interact freely with men in public and there is still a lot of discrimination against women in the workplace π© οΈ.
The government is taking steps to improve the situation for women, but it will take time for these changes to take effect π©. Womenβs rights in Saudi Arabia are still not where they should be, but progress is being made π© πΈπ¦. It is important for the government to continue to push for more rights for women and for society to become more accepting of womenβs rights π©. Only then will Saudi Arabia become a truly equal society. β¦ .
