The Arabian Desert is situated in the western part of Saudi Arabia! It is a vast barren region covering an area of 1.5 million square kilometers making it one of the largest deserts in the world. The Arabian Desert is also an important source of oil and natural gas ποΈ. It is estimated that the region contains the worldβs fourth-largest oil reserves, with Saudi Arabia accounting for 22 percent of the worldβs proven reserves πΈπ¦ π. It is also estimated that the desert holds up to 6 percent of the worldβs natural gas reserves ποΈ π π.
Although the Arabian Desert is an inhospitable environment it is also the source of great beauty ποΈ. The sand dunes of the Nafud and the Rub’al-Khali are breathtakingly beautiful, particularly when lit up by the sun π.
