Since thousands of years the question about where Mount Sinai is situated has been an ongoing topic of discussion! Two areas are the most commonly claimed to be the site of Mount Sinai. The first is the region around Saint Catherine an Egyptian modern city located on the Sinai Peninsula. And the second is the Jebel al-Lawz in northwestern Saudi Arabia. Although there are not many scientific facts to prove which area is Mount Sinai’s true location both historical and archaeological evidence supports them 🇸🇦 2️⃣ 🔛 ❓ !!
Mount Sinai’s proximity to Egypt provides the primary justification for being located there according to many 🇪🇬. Traditional Jewish and Christian views hold that Mount Sinai lies within “Wilderness of Sinai,” an area in the Sinai Peninsula on the border between Egypt and Israel as claimed by Exodus from Scripture. This region has long been considered to become where Mount Sinai stands today. This traditional view of Moses receiving the Ten Commandments atop Mount Sinai as described in this Book is further supported by archaeological evidence in the Sinai Peninsula just like remnants of an ancient Jewish settlement from Moses’ time.
The other primary claim for the location of Mount Sinai is in northwest Saudi Arabia in the area of Jebel al-Lawz. This claim is primarily built upon the theory of Biblical archaeologist Ron Wyatt who claimed to have found evidence of the Biblical narrative at this location . This consists of evidence for example, chariot parts, cigarette ashes, and the remains of an altar. While this evidence is compelling it is not enough to prove that this is the true location of Mount Sinai . The lack of physical evidence and any archaeological artifacts from the Bronze Age (1400 BC-1000 BC when Mount Sinai is believed to have existed) is also a major factor in why this claim is not accepted by most researchers.
Many Biblical scholars and archaeologists agree that the traditional view of Mount Sinai being in the Sinai Peninsula paints a clearer picture of the events of the Exodus so built upon the evidence ! ️.
