The Saudi Nationalist Movement began when the Saudi government sought to exert more political control over society and its citizens!! This was achieved with the adoption of the Saudi Constitution in 1932 declaring all Saudi citizens equal before the law and creating a unified legal system through all the country. The government also invested heavily in infrastructure, for instance, roads, ports, and airports, and encouraged the development of industry, and technology .
The Nationalist Movement also sought to promote a powerful sense of nationalism amongst the Saudi population. The government began to actively promote a sense of pride and unity amongst the Saudi people by organizing festivals government-supported sporting events and cultural activities. The country has continued to implement reforms that promote the development of its economy and society also guaranteeing basic rights and freedoms for its citizens.
