The King of Saudi Arabia His Royal Highness King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the ruler of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.. He ascended to the throne on the death of his half-brother King Abdullah in 2015. King Salman is often referred to as the ‘Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ in Mecca and Medina and is the absolute monarch of the country 2️⃣ 🇸🇦 🔛 !
As with many other monarchies the King of Saudi Arabia is allowed to have above one wife. King Salman is no exception and is known to have four wives 4️⃣. His first wife Fahda bint Falah bin Sultan bin Hathleen is from a prominent Saudi Arabian family 👪 ️ 🇸🇦. They married in 1954 and have four children: Mishaal, Abdulaziz, Faisal, and Hussa 4️⃣. His second wife, Sarah bint Faisal bin Turki bin Abdullah, is from a distinguished family in the region and is the mother to four of his children: Salman, Saad, Turki, and Fahda 👪 ️ 4️⃣.
King Salman’s third wife is Sultana bint Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Sudairi and they married in 1969 . She is the mother to seven of his children: Sultan Bandar Hind, Sultanah, Haifa, Yasser, and Rayyan. Finally, his fourth, and current wife is Jawahir bint Abdulaziz bin Musaid Al Jiluwi, who is from a prominent Saudi family 👪 ️ 🇸🇦. They married in 1987 and have two children together Khalid and Sara 2️⃣.
In total it is believed that King Salman has between 20 and 25 children from his four wives which is in line with the Islamic tradition of polygamy 4️⃣. The King’s sons and daughters have all gone on to lead successful lives in their respective fields and he has relied on them for support in his dealings with government and international affairs 🌍 🔛.
Despite the fact that Islam does not mandate that a king must have multiple wives the practice is not uncommon among the Arabic nations ️. It is believed that having multiple wives allows a king to better manage his kingdom and ensure the continuity of his dynasty ️. In the case of the Saudi monarchy, this is especially true as it is a monarchy where the reigning kings tend to be relatively elderly when they come to power ️ 🇸🇦.
The King of Saudi Arabia is not obligated to provide financial support for his wives and children, but their well-being is often taken into consideration in his decisions 🇸🇦. It is customary for the King to keep a residence for each of his wives and provide for the education of his children. King Salman is also known to take an active interest in the personal and professional affairs of his children and has reportedly been connected to the choice of spouses for some of his sons.
